- The recognition of Phylgreen’s biostimulant properties for enhancing abiotic stress tolerance and drought resistance applies to all crops.
- The CE Mark obtained enables Rovensa Next to market Phylgreen in all 27 countries of the European Union.
- In addition to this recognition, Phylgreen has shown promising results in other internal trials, which suggest that its biostimulant properties could be extended to enhance plant resistance to other stress factors such as heat, cold, hypoxia and seasonal changes.
Madrid, 25 September 2024 – Phylgreen, now registered as a ‘Non-microbial plant biostimulant’ under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation 2019/1009 (FPR), and CE-marked, is a key tool in sustainable agriculture. Rovensa Next’s seaweed product helps all crops to overcome drought stress and has many more positive properties depending on the crop group.
In addition to being recognised by the EU FPR as a plant biostimulant, Phylgreen has shown promising results in other internal trials. These trials suggest that its biostimulant properties could be extended to enhance plant resistance to other stress factors such as heat, cold, hypoxia and seasonal changes.
The CE mark achievement represents an additional guarantee that Rovensa Next adheres to European regulatory standards. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to protecting people’s health and preserving the environment. As a result, the product will now be available in all 27 countries in the European Union.
Phylgreen, the effective biostimulant to address abiotic stress
Precisely with this goal in mind, Rovensa Next introduced Phylgreen, a powerful biostimulant designed to prevent abiotic stress. It is derived from fresh, naturally extracted Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed, and its effectiveness is backed by over seventy agronomic and scientific trials since 2015 on multiple strategic crops.
Phylgreen has shown significant results in reducing drought stress across all major crop groups (broadacre, woody perennials, vegetables, ornamental plants, and AMP plants) making it a valuable tool in modern agriculture.
In the tested vegetables, ornamental, and aromatic and medicinal plants (AMP), the application of Phylgreen increased resistance to water scarcity, ultimately boosting overall yield. The plants developed larger leaf areas and showed an increase of between 33-90% in the number of fruits and weight, resulting in a range of 15-25% increase in yields.
In woody perennials (fruit trees, olive, vines and citrus trees, etc.), foliar treatment with Phylgreen improved drought resistance, and fruit weight percentages rose by approximately 10%. Yields increased by up to 15% even in dry conditions. Furthermore, the application of Phylgreen increased the fruit’s colour and Brix degrees.
In addition, Phylgreen boosted drought stress resilience in broadacre crops (i.e. cereals, potatoes, maize, sugar beet, among others), achieving more vigorous growth and reducing the number of dry leaves by up to 12%. Yield also increased by 37% in first harvests.
The Primactive Effect of Phylgreen works by altering plant metabolism when applied before stress, helping plants better to withstand conditions such as drought or seasonal changes.
Primactive Effect is made possible by Rovensa Next’s innovative and exclusive Gentle Extraction process, GLT® (Gentle and Low Temperature) of seaweed, and the compounds in Phylgreen. This process helps prepare the crop to better self-manage abiotic stresses by accumulating compounds that can combat the negative effects of abiotic stress. It also allows the plant to quickly alter its metabolism to deal with stress once it occurs. Ultimately, this helps to protect harvest profitability.
This new recognition reinforces Rovensa Next’s leadership, driving the biotransformation of the industry by encouraging biosolutions strategies for more sustainable agriculture practices worldwide.
